I will admit, I’m a little late to the face oil game—I have such sensitive skin, which breaks out easily, and it made me think rubbing oil into my pores may not be the best thing to add to my regimen. But after seeing how well a cannabis salve was working on my occasional blemishes, and how my 1:1 tincture helps with any eczema flare-ups on my hands (screw you, stress!), it made me think I should see how my skin responds to a cannabis oil. I have tried a few, with some mixed (and reactive) results—my skin would either flare up the next day, and some would take a few days of use, but my skin would eventually get angry, so I’d stop. But the Kiskanu Cannabis Face Oil has been pleasant with my skin from the beginning.

First, I love how it smells. It’s lightly floral, but it isn’t sweet (I don’t think it necessarily smells feminine, it’s more natural than anything). It absorbs quickly into my skin—I take a few drops and warm them up in my palm, and then gently dollop and pat my face with it, as well as my décolleté. (After a summer of sunning, my skin looks so much more hydrated after a month of continual use.)

I put it on after I’ve washed my face in the evening, and by the time I brush my teeth and floss, it’s mostly absorbed, with no oily residue on my skin. (Kiskanu warns it may stain.) There’s just a pleasant softness, and my winter skin is drinking it up. (I’ve been using it in the morning too.) I also like to believe there’s a relaxing component to using a cannabis face oil, so be sure to rub it into your jawline and forehead (common areas where we store stress).

After a month of use, I noticed less redness in my cheeks, fewer breakouts (cannabis has antiseptic properties), and my skin looks hydrated and happy. As for the ingredients, Kiskanu notes they "feature rose geranium, known for its wound-healing properties and ability to soothe irritated skin, blemishes, inflammation, as well as anxiety. The antibacterial, antifungal, and antioxidant properties in our face oil also fight acne and other skin irritations. The cannabis we use has both THC and CBD, providing pain relief, reducing inflammation, and relaxing muscle spasms. Cannabis and calendula both are anti-spasmodic and can help with facial tension, headaches, achy jaws, and more. Lavender is a known pain reliever, antifungal, antibacterial, antispasmodic, and aids in wound and blemish healing. Wild carrot is a gentle cell rejuvenator and excellent first line of defense for supporting aging or environmentally stressed skin, while supporting overall skin health. High in Vitamins A and E, our oil promotes radiant and youthful skin by promoting collagen formation leaving skin looking lustrous and radiant.” I can vouch for all of this!

Founders Gretchen and Jason Miller run a family-owned and operated business, which includes their own farm in the foothills of the Northern Humboldt coastal range, and have over 20 years of experience in the cannabis industry. They also supplement and source sun-grown cannabis from small, sustainable family farms in Humboldt County for their hand crafted, small-batch skincare line, using premium, whole-plant extracts in a base of cold-pressed, virgin, organic oils. It’s beautiful, pure, cannabis skincare.

I hope you enjoy trying this cannabis face oil, especially during these dry winter months, which are so hard on our skin as it tries to adjust to the new season and environment. The face oil comes in a larger size (1 oz./30ml), but the small size lasted me for a more than a month! You can also try it on your hands, beard, and anywhere that needs some tension relief and deep hydration. Drink it up!
