4/20 is a perfect day for Californians to celebrate our access to legal cannabis, but knowing where to begin can be daunting with so many different kinds of products available (and some are very strong, so remember: start low, go slow!) Fret not. Let mymilligram be your trusted guide.


Here are my picks for four different need states (sleep, pain, pleasure, mood) and twenty products that can help. These are just quick product summaries, so be sure to click through the links in the product names to learn more. Sleep

Kikoko Tranquili-Tea

An ideal tea for beginners to try (just 3mg of THC per sachet, plus CBN, which can help with sleep), and it smells and tastes like a sweet dream.


Level CBG Tablinguals

A sublingual tablet that offers one of the best ways to wind down in the evening without any psychoactive effects (helpful for daytime anxious moments, too).


Farmaceuticals Co. Doze Drops

Level Slumber vape (Delta-8 and CBD) (under CBD Blends)

For those moments when you wake up in the middle of the night and need to get back to sleep stat, a couple puffs on this relaxing vape can help (with no groggy effects in the morning).


NOTE on vapes: the jury is still out for me on whether vape pens are safe to use or not, which is why I haven’t recommended any on mymilligram yet. They certainly are convenient, but there’s a lot we don’t know. That being said, I personally trust Level as a company and their sourcing, and feel safer using their products (vape cartridges and battery) than others. (Just keep your battery temperature low.) It’s totally up to you to decide if vaping is right for you—we’re lucky there are now sprays for quick onset if you don’t want to vape or smoke.


Pain

Sweet Releaf Comfort Body Butter

Cosmic View 3:1 Tincture

This well-made tincture was crafted to be high in benefits, from pain management (including migraines) to helping cancer patients. Also: it’s calming.


Rosette THCA tincture

For those grappling with pain but can’t tolerate any psychoactive effects of THC, this non-psychoactive (and anti-inflammatory) tincture is for you.


Level Relieve/THCA Tablinguals

Not a fan of tinctures? Try this non-psychoactive, sublingual tablet (3mg) to help manage pain. Or you can try a Protab, which you swallow, with 25mg of THCA (start with half, even though it’s non-psychoactive).


OM Edibles Epsom mineral soak

Nothing like a good soak to help with aches, but these come with the added bonus of 25mg of THC and CBD in five different formulations, like soothing lavender, or lemon-eucalyptus-ginger if you’re sick. These soaks will not make you high, just happy.


Pleasure

Humboldt Apothecary Love Potion No. 7

A fun way to kickstart your sexytime session is with this spiced tincture formulated for pleasure—start with a quarter-dropper (2mg of THC) and titrate from there.


Kikoko Sensuali-Tea

This is a hot cuppa to share with your partner since it's 7mg of THC per sachet (don’t drink it all yourself). This rosy tea’s effects are stimulating and euphoric.
