4/20 is a perfect day for Californians to celebrate our access to legal cannabis, but knowing where to begin can be daunting with so many different kinds of products available (and some are very strong, so remember: start low, go slow!) Fret not. Let mymilligram be your trusted guide.

Here are my picks for four different need states (sleep, pain, pleasure, mood) and twenty products that can help. These are just quick product summaries, so be sure to click through the links in the product names to learn more. (You can read more and order these products for delivery in the greater Bay Area on my page on Sava!)

Kikoko Tranquili-Tea

An ideal tea for beginners to try (just 3mg of THC per sachet, plus CBN, which can help with sleep), and it smells and tastes like a sweet dream.

Level CBG Tablinguals

A sublingual tablet that offers one of the best ways to wind down in the evening without any psychoactive effects (helpful for daytime anxious moments, too).

Farmaceuticals Co. Doze Drops

When you really need to get to sleep, this potent tincture does the job, naturally. Lovingly sourced and made in small batches. (Check out their other tinctures for mood!)

Garden Society Bliss Blossoms

Meet the new kind of chocolate on your pillow for extra-special turndown service. Start with just half (5mg) of this sleep-inducing milk chocolate for help with staying asleep (no more of that waking up at 3am nonsense).

Level Slumber vape (Delta-8 and CBD) (under CBD Blends)

For those moments when you wake up in the middle of the night and need to get back to sleep stat, a couple puffs on this relaxing vape can help (with no groggy effects in the morning).

NOTE on vapes: the jury is still out for me on whether vape pens are safe to use or not, which is why I haven’t recommended any on mymilligram yet. They certainly are convenient, but there’s a lot we don’t know. That being said, I personally trust Level as a company and their sourcing, and feel safer using their products (vape cartridges and battery) than others. (Just keep your battery temperature low.) It’s totally up to you to decide if vaping is right for you—we’re lucky there are now sprays for quick onset if you don’t want to vape or smoke.

Pain

Sweet Releaf Comfort Body Butter

This creamy topical contains THC and CBD, and can help soothe sore muscles, arthritic hands, and pain points. (There’s also an Extra Strength.) Mom-approved.

Cosmic View 3:1 Tincture

This well-made tincture was crafted to be high in benefits, from pain management (including migraines) to helping cancer patients. Also: it’s calming.

Rosette THCA tincture

For those grappling with pain but can’t tolerate any psychoactive effects of THC, this non-psychoactive (and anti-inflammatory) tincture is for you.

Level Relieve/THCA Tablinguals

Not a fan of tinctures? Try this non-psychoactive, sublingual tablet (3mg) to help manage pain. Or you can try a Protab, which you swallow, with 25mg of THCA (start with half, even though it’s non-psychoactive).

OM Edibles Epsom mineral soak

Nothing like a good soak to help with aches, but these come with the added bonus of 25mg of THC and CBD in five different formulations, like soothing lavender, or lemon-eucalyptus-ginger if you’re sick. These soaks will not make you high, just happy.

Pleasure

Humboldt Apothecary Love Potion No. 7

A fun way to kickstart your sexytime session is with this spiced tincture formulated for pleasure—start with a quarter-dropper (2mg of THC) and titrate from there.

Kikoko Sensuali-Tea

This is a hot cuppa to share with your partner since it's 7mg of THC per sachet (don’t drink it all yourself). This rosy tea’s effects are stimulating and euphoric.

HerbaBuena Quiver sensual oil

This lightly spiced topical oil is designed to heighten arousal and sensation on your lady parts, give it 20 minutes or so for full rawr. And it’s not just for sex—try some on before going out for some stealth stimulation “just because.”

Quim Oh Yes!

This brand-new, cannabis-infused serum is latex-safe (!) and designed for intensified sensation and lubrication (and is fast-acting: 5–7 minutes!).

Dosist Arouse pen

These pre-measured vape pens deliver 2.25mg of THC per puff. The Arouse pen will get you lightly fired up (with some tingles in the bikini/bathing suit area, as I jokingly like to say). It also helps with energy in the morning, or before going out! (But first, please read my note above about vape pens at the end of the Sleep section, and why I’m cautious to recommend them.)

Juna Jade drops

This 1:1 (CBD: THC) tincture lends feelings of relaxation, serenity, and sensuality. Trying replacing your nightly wine-down with these lifestyle drops.

Verra Wellness Micromist Tinctures

A sublingual spray built for the microdoser on the go, the micromist comes in three ratios of CBD: THC (20:1, 1:1, 1:10) and offers quick onset, precise dosing, and discretion. Magic spritz!

OLO strips

These minty sublingual strips come in four different formulations (Social, Focus, Active, Chill) and offer a consistent, lightly elevated experience. (Also: very portable.)

Somatik Sparks

For when you need to chill out (try a few goji berries with 2mg CBD and 1mg THC per berry) or get zippy (try the espresso bean with 3mg THC per bean).

California Dreamin’

A fun way to get lifted. There are four different tangy, fruity sodas that are easy to mix with and deliver a sparkly buzz (each bottle contains 10mg of THC).
